It's a serum.
It is advertised as a lightweight evening cream with 0.05% retinaldehyde( 3X more powerful than retinol). However, I would say it is more like a serum and should be used with a moisturizer. This product will stain any fabric it comes in contact with. Apply it at night? Your linens will be ruined! AND, why is it tinted?
Excellent Retinal Product for Anti-Aging
I've been using Avène RetrinAL 0.05 as part of my nighttime skincare routine, and I'm very pleased with it! I love how gentle yet effective this product is. My skin feels smoother, softer, and well cared for, without the irritation or dryness that can sometimes accompany retinoid products. As someone who is proactive about maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin, I consider Avène RetrinAL an excellent addition to my anti-aging skincare regimen. Best eye cream
Most eye creams either burn or give me more milia, this one did not. I have used this every night for maybe 5 months and a kinda large, stubborn milia is finally gone. Finally found my 'go-to' eye product. Love it!
Love this
I've been using the Avène Retrinal 0.05 for about a month and I really like it. I have sensitive skin and most retinoids irritate me, but this one hasn't caused burning or peeling. It's creamy, easy to apply, and layers well with moisturizer. Results are subtle but noticeable — my skin looks smoother and more even, and I've had less dullness overall. It's not a dramatic overnight product, but it feels effective without being harsh. Pricey, but worth it if you want a gentle retinoid you can actually stick with.
I couldn't get over the smell
The smell was terrible, unfortunately! Kind of chemical and sour and it lingered. It's only the second retinol-family product I've used, so I'm not sure if this is typical or not, but I couldn't get over it. I love Avene and I'm sure it's effective, but if you are sensitive to smells, too, maybe not for you.
