Sophisticated and Sexy in a Modern Way

I received this fragrance complimentary from BzzAgent and Chanel in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to Chanel for the opportunity to try it. I tend to gravitate toward clean and citrusy fragrances, so this isn't necessarily a fragrance I would have been drawn to based on the notes alone (ly...chee-grapefruit, rose, jasmine, patchouli, and ambery notes with vanilla and vetiver). I also tend to avoid patchouli. Fortunately, it isn't particularly strong here. On the first spray, I got a juicy, somewhat fruity note that quickly settled into something softer and sensual. There is something very sexy about the dry-down without it becoming too heavy or overpowering, but it could lean that way if over-sprayed. After many hours it has settled into a beautiful woodsy scent. There is also the faintest hint of masculine aftershave, but in a way that really works, most likely from the vetiver. It gives the fragrance depth, and everything is blended so well that it doesn't feel distinctly masculine or out of place. This definitely feels more mature to me, but not in an "old lady" sort of way. It has a bit of confident and sexy sophistication to it. For me, this is a nighttime scent that I would choose for a special occasion, date night, or an evening event rather than as an everyday fragrance. It has that late-twenties-to-thirties feeling to me. A perfume you'd reach for when you're dressed up and feeling a little more confident and sensual than usual or wearing with the black dress and black lingerie when going out in the city. Longevity is very good. I sprayed the smallest amount on my wrist, of all places, and it is still going strong more than six hours later. As far as Chanel fragrances go, I think the quality and overall experience match the cost. It feels like a luxury fragrance, and the price reflects that. Overall, this probably won't replace my clean, fresh fragrances as an everyday scent, but I'm genuinely glad I tried it and it has a place on my shelf.
