Good cleanser

I started using this cleanser after running out of my regular one, and so far it has not disappointed me. My skin feels clean, but not squeaky clean, after using the cleanser, although it takes me a while to foam it. It lathers well but doesn't foam a lot from my experience. If I have a pimple, this...

My entire face would peel overnight, every night

I used the old formula for years and years. Never had any problems and always made my skin feel soft and clean. However recently I began waking up with my entire face dry and peeling (think reptilian). I blamed the brutal east coast winter, my boyfriend, and my cat. And then last weekend we went awa...

If you have any sensitivity whatsoever, this might ruin your skin. I use the other la roche posay cleanser for oily skin and I really like it. This was on sale so I thought I'd try it. I used it once and noticed irritation, however I assumed it was a seborrheic dermatitis flare up. I used it again the next night and when I woke up my eyes were swollen shut and my skin barrier was completely destroyed. It was like someone rubbed sandpaper all over my face, and I couldnt even hold a cold pack to my eyes to help with the swelling without it being painful. The worst contact dermatitis I've ever had. I'm not saying this wont work for some people, however this product has heavy fragrance (Why are companies still putting fragrance in products??). If you have sensitive skin in any capacity, try the other cleanser. I love la roche posay and I recommend their products often. But you could not pay me enough to use this again.

Oily skin

I am absolutely in love with La Roche-Posay effaclar gel facial wash for oily skin. I have been using it for a while now and it completely cleared up my acne and reduced break outs. The formula creates really nice, gentle foam that cleanse deeply without leaving any tight or dry residue. Highly recommended this to anyone struggling with oily or acne-prone skin.

Q
Does this product exfoliate ?
Asked by Kk
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hello there! At La Roche-Posay, our Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser effectively cleanses oily skin without the physical or chemical exfoliation found in some other cleansers. It focuses on gently removing excess oil, dirt, and impurities without harsh scrubbing or potentially irritating exfoliating ingredients. This makes it suitable for daily use, even on sensitive skin. If you're looking for a La Roche-Posay cleanser with exfoliating properties, we recommend exploring our Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser, which contains salicylic acid. Was this answer helpful to you

Asked by help
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hello there! At La Roche-Posay, we understand your question about the listing of "fragrance" on our Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser. The ingredients in our formulations, even those described as "fragrance-free," can sometimes have inherent scents due to their natural composition. We recommend reviewing the complete ingredient list to ensure the product aligns with your individual sensitivities. If you have specific concerns about an ingredient, our customer service team can provide further clarification. We prioritize transparency and are happy to assist. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this cleanser everyday?
Asked by Rose
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hello there! While Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser is designed for oily skin, whether you can use it every day depends on your individual skin's tolerance and needs. Some people with very oily skin find it beneficial to use daily, while others with more sensitive or combination skin might prefer to use it every other day or a few times a week. It’s always a good idea to start slowly and observe how your skin reacts. If you experience any dryness or irritation, reduce the frequency of use. If you’re unsure, consulting a dermatologist is always recommended. They can provide personalized advice based on your specific skin type and concerns. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Is this a good face wash to use on acne prone skin?
Asked by McKinley
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hello there! The Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser is often recommended for acne-prone skin due to its specific formulation. It contains ingredients that help to cleanse pores, remove excess oil, and reduce shine, which are all beneficial for managing acne. However, everyone's skin reacts differently, and what works well for one person might not work for another. If you have acne-prone skin, it's always best to consult with a dermatologist for personalized recommendations. They can assess your specific skin type and acne severity and suggest the most appropriate cleanser and skincare routine for your individual needs. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Can this be used on NON oily skin types or willl it be too drying?
Asked by NaimaD.
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hello there! While Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser is specifically formulated for oily skin, its suitability for other skin types depends on individual factors. For someone with normal to dry skin, it might be too drying for regular use. However, those with combination skin, where some areas are oily and others are dry, might find it suitable for targeted use on the oilier zones. For more personalized advice, consulting a dermatologist is always recommended. They can assess your specific skin type and concerns to determine if this cleanser, or a different product, is the right fit for you. You can also find more details about the cleanser on the La Roche-Posay website, including information on its ingredients and intended usage. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
What is the difference between this one and the other purifying foaming get cleanser that comes with the refill? They both say for oily and both say gel cleansing but different price and bottle type
Asked by shi
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hello there! Thanks for reaching out to us about our Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for Oily Skin. There is no difference between these products besides the packaging they come in. All the ingredients we use in a product are listed on the package or the label of the product itself. For products too small to accommodate the list, a separate ingredient list is available on the display unit in the store for your convenience. Since some ingredients are known by more than one name, we use the standard industry FDA-recognized names. We hope this was helpful! Was this answer helpful to you
