Great Discovery Set

I'm a big Olaplex fan and was excited to try out their Healthy Hair Discovery Set. It contains trial sizes of 6 Olaplex products. I had used 3 of the products before, and 3 were completely new to me. I like the Discovery Set because it's a great, affordable way to sample a range of what the brand h...as to offer and decide which products are right for your hair. Personally, every product doesn't have to be a win for me to make this set worth it. For reference, I have long mid-back length, thick, slightly wavy hair that can be on the little bit oily side. As far as the specific products, two I have used before and continue to be a massive fan of are the No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and the No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Both of these feel and smell like luxury haircare products and make my hair look and feel amazing. They are rich and thick in texture without weighing my hair down. The shampoo lathers extremely well, and the conditioner makes my hair feel very soft. These products also go a long way. With how long and thick my hair is, I can burn through shampoo and conditioner, but I find I don't have to use as much of the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner as I have to use of most other brands. I got just over 2 washes out of the trial set for both of these, but someone with shorter and thinner hair would get more. Then you have the No. 3 PLUS Complete Repair Treatment. You apply this pre-wash treatment all over on damp hair and leave on for around 3 minutes. It's supposed to repair hair damage to create stronger and softer hair. I will say I have used this treatment before too, and I am still a little on the fence with it. I cannot tell much difference when I use it, but it probably requires more frequent, longer use in order to see noticeable results. To get into the products that were new to me, I really liked the No.6 Bond Smoother. This is a lightweight hair cream that helps tame frizz. I apply just a small amount to damp hair then let my hair air dry, though it should work great with blow drying too. It's worth noting that I will get a lot of use out of just this trial size since you need so little product for it to work. Similarly, you will get a lot of use out of the No.7 Bonding Oil, which only requires a few drops at a time. This is a lightweight hair oil that adds shine to hair while also helping with frizz and heat styling damage. I was a little on the fence with the oil because I don't tend to use them - I find they tend to weigh my hair down. I will give this one credit for being lighter than I'm used to, though I did not think I noticed much difference in shine when drying and styling my hair naturally. I feel like this product would be best when intentionally going for a styles sleek and straight look. The instructions for the discovery set suggested mixing the cream and oil or at least using both at the same time. I decided I don't like that method for me and would likely use them at separate times. When used together, while not heavy, my hair felt on the sleeker side while I tend to prefer more bounce, which I feel like using just the cream provides. The last product in the set was the No.0.5 Scalp Longevity Treatment. This was by far my least favorite product in the set and the only one where I was like I definitely don't think I would use that, though I do think it could be right for people looking for help with scalp issues. For starters, this is technically an unscented product, but it smells horrible to me. It can be applied to wet hair or as overnight treatment on dry hair while sleeping and is supposed to hydrate and soothe the scalp as well as strengthen and protect the scalp barrier. However, you likely won't see results with this product using just the trial size. It was a bit unclear how much product to use at a time, but following the directions, I ended up using most of the trial size in one go. I used the treatment overnight and could not tell a difference on my hair in the morning. On the positive side though, at least it did not make my hair greasy like I was worried about, but I am concerned it might have broken me out a little (though tbd if it was definitely from this product). Overall, I really enjoyed this Discovery Set and suggest trying it out for yourself! I ended up with 3 products I love and definitely plan to continue using as well as 2 other products I'm also happy with, so I think that's definitely a big win!
