There are serious issues with the spring that allows you to open and close the iron to curl. It's like the spring gets too hot, softens, and ends up stuck and the iron won't close all the way to secure the hair. I use the tool the way it is intended. 3 months old, clamp doesn't hold my hair anymore!
First and last Bio Ionic curling iron I'll own. I've only owned this iron for 3 months, used maybe 3 times, and the clamp does not hold my hair at all. Hair slips completely out, without much tension being applied. Buy T3 or Babyliss instead!
It will break in half
The Bioionic 1" extended barrel iron was really good, until the barrel literally fell onto my clients head. It detached from the base and was hanging by wires. Bioionic has a tecall on them except it didn't include my date code. Clearly if the same thing happened as the ones recalled, they dont have all of the dates correct on the recall. They have terrible customer service and wont do anything about it. Ive had it about 2 years and dont even use it all the time.

I was so excited to purchase this curling iron. I turned it on and set and locked the temperature. I curled the first 1 inch section and noticed all of the lights were flashing. I attempted to do another 1 inch section but it did did not curl. The barrel was no longer hot. I turned it off for a few minutes and tried again. It did the same thing. I tried to file a claim under the warranty. Not only do you have pay to mail it back, they do not return it after they check it. How exactly is that a warranty? They sell a defective product and when you return it for the warranty, they keep it. You are out for the iron and shipping, almost $200 total, and have nothing.
