It does not take much product for use of the device. However, I am uncertain to what its real benefit is that other products can accomplish....jury still out on that being a new user

I thought I could just use my regular 'UberLube", but the experience is night and day. I felt some uncomforatble heat when I was NOT using the Photonic Gel, but once I applied it, the heat went away. Highly recommend!
