A few tips to help you color with total confidence:
Skin Allergy Test - Madison Reed always recommends you do a sensitivity test before coloring your hair. At least 48 hours beforehand, mix 1 part Radiant Cream Color (a small squeeze) with 1.5 parts Conditioning Color Activator (a few drops). Use a cotton swab to apply a quarter-sized amount to a small patch of skin behind your ear or inside your elbow. Keep dry. Wait 48 hours. If there is no sign of change to the area, then you're ready to color. Always consult your physician if you have questions or concerns. If you've had a sensitivity to hair color in the past, you may be more likely to have a reaction.
Please see the instructions included in your Radiant Hair Color kit for the best application to achieve your desired results.
Tips and tricks from the experts - Wear a shirt or smock that buttons or zips up the front to make cleanup easy. Begin with dry, unwashed hair. The day after your last shampoo is best for coloring. Make sure hair is free of styling products as they coat hair and may block the color.
Total Color Processing Time = 35 minutes (or 45 minutes for maximum gray coverage)

BEAUTIFUL COLOR - But a bit dark
This color could not be more natural looking. I was previously coloring my hair a light brown/ash blonde and wanted to go a medium/light brown copper red. The preview photos of this color are all very different. I was hoping to turn out on the lighter side, but mine came out pretty dark, but it is o...

Never Again
My color quiz matched me with lighter shades of blonde but I opted for this (it was still one of my matches) because it was darker and I am always afraid of going too light at home. According to the swatch online it did not look too far off of my natural color so I didn't think anything would go wro...

cover gray hair
Yes
I like the coverage . I think you could " trim" some of the extra in box, and lower the Price. I have never used cleansing wipe, pkg of cream.
I Always Come Back to This One.
Madison Red is the best for greys
Gray hair coverage…
While I do think it's a lovely color and it initially does cover grays, I found that color on grays faded quickly and my grays reappeared within days.
Would buy often if could only get the paper coupon mailers
Why doesn't Ulta employees treat all age groups with the same enthusiasm as the younger career women? I have been a member for years and used to get the paper mailers, now when I come to the store and tell the employees I'm not getting the books, they look me up and say I'm in the system, but no birthday reward in August & no coupon books…and I should call corporate. No one is waiting in line & they TELL ME I NEED TO CALL SOMEONE TO FIX the problem. Something is very wrong with Ulta's customer service model.

what is the best color for natural light auburn hair that is going gray. a lot of red hair dyes can look so fake - I am looking for a natural looking color
- Asked by natural red
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationGreat question! It's hard to pin down the exact perfect shade without seeing your starting point in person, but we can definitely point you in the right direction. For natural-looking coverage on graying hair, you'll want to look for shades that include an N in the name (like our Genova Red), as this ensures full gray coverage while still looking soft and believable rather than flat or artificial. Since you're working with a natural light auburn base, something in a lighter auburn/red-brown natural shade would likely give you that warm, realistic tone without veering into overly vibrant or "fake" red territory. Was this answer helpful to you

I have the kit to color my roots. If I am only doing my roots do you still wear the shower cap.? If so what do I do with the bottom part of my hair. Also, I have a lot of gray by ny ears. She put some kind of pad there with color. How do you keep pads on ?
- Asked by Peggy
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationYou can leave your hair down if it’s longer, or loosely tuck it up into the cap if you choose to wear one—the cap is simply to help avoid a mess. We don’t recommend placing pads over the color after application, as they can absorb the product instead of your hair. For best results, apply the color generously—especially to harder-to-cover areas—almost like frosting, to ensure even coverage. Was this answer helpful to you
